SYDNEY REGATTA.

AUCKLAND YACHTS COMPETE RIPTIDE AND MANENE. In addition to the 18ft M class yacht Manene, the 18ft V class yacht Riptide will compete at the Sydney 150 th anniversary regatta in January. Both boats are to leave Auckland on January 18 on the Awatea. The Riptide is owned by Mr. B. Schmidt and is of the unrestricted type. She was built in 1935 by Mr. A. Willetts, of Point Chevalier. During her two seasons she has won a number of races, being especially good in light weather, which is usual in Sydney during January. Her crew will consist of Messrs. B. Schmidt (owner and skipper), D. H. Skelton, J. Stenbeck, E. Carr, A. Morey and C. Tippett.

The first of three special races for the world's 18ft championship will take place on January 23, the other dates being January 20 and 30.
