BILL REJECTED.

HOLIDAYS WITH PAY.

Commons Discusses Labour Member's Plan. INVESTIGATION PENDING. British Official Wireless. (Received 11..'«» a.m.) KHiBV, November 14. The House of Commons discussed holidays with pay on a Labour member's bill, which was rejected on the second reading.

Mr. R. A. Butler, for the Government, intervened in the debate in support of an amendment, which was later passed and which, while welcoming the development of the practice of granting holidays with pay by voluntary agreement, refused to assent to the bill, pending the report of a Departmental committee under fhe chairmanship of Lord Amulree, which the Government appointed earlier this year to investigate all relevant faets.

Mr. Butler mentioned that the committee expected to finish taking evidence soon and would then consider its report. He stated that since the question was last debated in the House. ft.000,000 workpeople had been granted holidays with pay by agreement between employers and trade unions.
