BUTTER DECLINE.
POSITION IN BRITAIN. HOLDERS TAKE FRIGHT. FURTHER REDUCTION EXPECTED. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, November 14. The expected break in butter was more drastic than most traders bargained lor. A complete wave of pessimism swept the markets on Monday and holders became most anxious, sellers' prices being reduced 2 at a time in an attempt to find new 1 business. now largely nominal. Australian importers are finding a difficulty in clearing current consignments.
There seems no doubt that higher retail prices in Britain have affected consumption. Heavier arrivals early in December may- bring down prices a further 20, before Christmas. Danish is also lower, Germany refusing to pay full prices.
