EXAMINED AT SEA.
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS.
UNEXPECTED CIRCUMSTANCES
Two university students this year will sit for portion of their examinations while on board ships outward bound for Australia and Great Britain.
A family bereavement has made it necessary for Mr. John Harrison, of Huntly, U> proceed at an early date to the United Kingdom and he sails by the Rangitiki from Napier on Thursday. The examination for the paper, which is in history, will be supervised by a responsible officer. The papers will then be placed under seal and posted back for marking.
A similar experience will be undergone by Miss Patricia Webb, who will sit Latin for her LL.B. degree aboard the Aorangi en route for Sydney. Miss Webb's departure before the termination of examinations is caused by the necessity for making travel connections for Singapore.
Commenting on the position in the case of Miss Webb, the chief supervisor at the Auckland University College, the Rev. A. J. Greenwood, stated that the circumstances were exceptional, but so long as the examinations were conducted by responsible persons there was nothing to fear.
