The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates arrived in Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. W. A. Boucher was a passenger to Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. P. B. Fitzherbert, of Auckland, is to be a candidate for the Auckland East electorate at the next election.
Lieutenant F. J. McWhinnie, of Wellington Second Composite Company. New Zealand Army Corps, ha* been promoted captain.
Mr. F. Lindsay Upfill, manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company at Rangoon, arrived at Auckland this week on furlough. ,
Mr. J. Roberts, national secretary of the Waterside Workers' Federation, left for Wellington by the Limited express last night.
Mr. V. C. Jones, B.Sc., who was recently appointed general secretary of the Y.M.C.A. in Wellington, is expected to arrive at Auckland from Honolulu on December 13.
The Hons. Eliot R. Davis and F. E. Lark, M.L.C.'s, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. The Hon. J. Alexander travelled on the early express. Mr. C. P. Hainsworth, general manager of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, will leave Auckland for Vancouver by the Aorangi on January 25, nnd he expects to be away from New Zealand for about six months.
Mr. C. 0. Coad, supervisor of the clerical branch at the Central Post Office, Wellington, has been transferred to Auckland, and will be leaving Wellington within the next few days. Mr. Coad has been the leading organiser in the health stamp campaign. Messrs. A. 0. Osborne. A. C. A. Rexton, J. Thorn. A. S. Richard*, C. R. Petrip, W. P. Endean, J. Coulter and A. F. Moncur, M.P.'s, were passengers by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Messrs. W. T. Anderton and F. W. Schramm travelled on the early express.
Mr. Felix Demery, examiner for the Royal Academy of Dancing, has returned to Australia, after spending a month in the Dominion examining in most of the main centres. This was his second visit to Now Zealand. Mr. Demery has still several months' examining to complete in Australia, and he ex|>ects to arrive in England in March after an absence of nine months. Mr. Kenneth W. Aimer, of Auckland, has l>ccn a worded the gold medal presented by the Sew Zealand Inetitiite of Architects for 1930 for his design of the Marino Hardens Flats in Mount Eden. This award is made by a jury of the Royal Institute of Architects in London. The medal will be presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the institute, to be held next week.
Mr. C. M. Turrell, general manager in New Zealand of the New Zealand Shipping Company, and Mrs. Turrell, who are on their return trip from England und the Continent, arrived at Sydney by the Strathmore on Wednesday. They will travel to Auckland by the Awatea, leaving Sydney on November 10, and, expect to arrive at Wellington by the Limited express on the morning of November 20. Lieutenant-Commissioner F. Adams, Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, ia visiting Auckland this week-end for the purpose of installing Brigadier Ada Ryder as the new women's social secretary for the Salvation Army in New Zealand. Brigadier Ryder has been transferred from Australia. _ :_,
