WRESTLING.
•BLOMFIELD THANKED. ! , i FIRTH HOME PATIENTS. I Unable in many cast* to leave the home because of their war injuries, and shut off, therefore, from enjoying the ordinary amusements of the people, the patients of the Evelyn Firth Home were enthusiastic in the thanks they offered to Lofty Blomfield, the New Zealand professional wrestling champion, when he paid a visit to the home this week. Blomfield gave them a demonstration of his training operations and of a number of holds used in modern wrestling. i One of the patients later visited the "Star" office to offer publicly the thanks of Matron Brave haw, the sisters and paitients, to Lofty Blomfield for his courtesy, and to offer him their $rood wishes for success in his challenges both for the British Empire title and the world championship. Blomfield will meet McCready for the Empire title in an open-air match at Carlaw Park to-morrow night. It is a match which means a great deal to both men, apart from the purse of £1500 offered. Both are in hard training, and as old rivals, knowing each other's powers, they should provide an exciting match. Blomfield will leave Auckland on Monday next for America, where in January next he will fight Bronko Nagurski for the world championship, as the first New Zealander to reach world rank.
