GENERAL ELECTION.
INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE. THE RAGLAN SEAT. (From Our Correspondent.) , HAMILTON, Thursday. The 'announcement that he intended to contest the Raglan seat at the next general election as an Independent candidate was made to-day by Mr. Albert James Gallichan„ of Whatawhata Road, Frankton. Mr. Gallichan, who was born in Dunedin 62 years ago, has been dairying for 34 years. He spent 30 years in the Manawatu. and for three years was managing director of the Manawatu-Reliance Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited. He has been in the Waikato for 15 years, and now occupies an area of i»4 acres near Frankton, on which he milks for town supply. Mr. Gallichan has been president of the Hamilton Milk Vendors' Association. He says that he is opposed to the Labour party's socialistic programme, and cannot see eye to eye with the National party.
