CLAIM AGAINST MOTORIST. (8/ Telegraph.—own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, this day. judgment for an amount of *174 2/ was given against Robert Butterworth by Mr. >Tuvtlea O'tler yesterday, marietta de Cent, aged 73. claimed £71H> for damages for injuries allegedly rniwd bjr defendant's negligence when driving a ear. ? "At the conclusion of plaintiff'* caw," stated the judge, "I was very doubtful whether the case ought not to be withdrawn from the iiiry, so slight was the evidence of negligence on the part of defendant and so clear against the plaintiff. I was of the opinion that the cvi- j denca was not sufficient to prove negii-' penee against defendant, but I cannot | *sy the jury were unreasonable, so I j ?J$ ve judgment for the amount awarded by the jury."
