MADCAP BROTHERS.

MARX FAMILY AT ST. JAMES , . The world's craziest team of non-stop comedians, the Marx Brothers, is scheduled to appear in Auckland again. Their latest production, the long-awaited "A Day at the Races," will open at St. James' Theatre on Friday. If attendances at previous Marx Brothers' pictures may be taken as a criterion. "A Day at the Races"' should draw record crowds in Auckland, for it is reported by soutnern critics to be the best the brothers have yet presented. The film is described ae "a judicious mixture of farce, clever repartee, music and rapid actions." A story which centres round a sanatorium, a scheming mortgagor, and a racetrack gives full rein to the very peculiar talents of the unquenchable three. Groucho is a horse doctor whose charm is so great that he gets a job as chief surgeon at a sanatorium. Chico has a number of jobs organised for himself, a few of which are bellboy, race-track tout and ice-cream salesman. Harpo, the most noisily silent actor on the screen, is a jockey, and a very good one, except that he never follows instructions when told to lose a race. The three are thrown together fortuitously with the common aims of dodging the sheriff and of saving the sanatorium for its beautiful owner, Maureen CTSullivan. To this end they almost succeed in wrecking the place and a perfectly good racetrack. Allan Jones sings well several numbers including "On Blue Venetian Waters." "To-morrow is Another Day" and "A Message from the Man in the Moon."
