Mr. L. W. Swan, secretary of the Auckland Aero Club, left for Xew Plymouth by air yesterday. -Mr. C. M. Richwhite returned to Auckland from the south by the Limited express this morning. Mr. H. O. Govan has been appointed district land registrar and examiner of titles for the Taranaki district. Mr. A. Turner returned to Auckland by the Limited express this morning, after a short visit to Wellington. Mr. W. Duff, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. He is at the Central Hotel. Mr. H. H. Sterling, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning. He is at the Grand Hotel. Dr. H. J. Mail, superintendent of the Commandcl Hospital, has been appointed medical superintendent of the Opotiki Hospital. Mr. H. Landon Smith, of Sydney, who has been on a short vit-it to Xew Zealand, will return to Australia by the Wangaiiella this evening. Mr. L. O. Desborough, of Wellington, the new registrar of Auckland University College, expects to take up' his duties at the beginning of December. Mr. Stanley S. Scott, managing director of Berlei (X.Z.), Ltd., returned to Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning, after a business tour of the Dominion. Mr. Victor C. Peters, conductor of the Christchurch Harmonic Society, will leave for a short visit to England early in December. During the absence of Mr. Petei", Mr. George M. Martin, Mus.Bac, will be in charge of the choir. Mr. Duncan Darroch, well-known Xew Zealand artist, returned to Wellington by the Port Hunter on Tuesday after a painting trip abroad. He left New Zealand in the Port Brisbane in May, and travelled via Cape Horn to England. Dr. W. Gilmour, pathologist at the Auckland Hospital, left for Dunedin by train last night. In Dunedin he will conduct a section of the second professional medical examination at Otago University. He was accompanied by Mrs. Gilmour. Dr. E. P. Xeale, secretary of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, returned from the south by the Limited express this morning. Last week he attended the annual conference in Timaru of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Xew Zealand. Mr. L. J. Conder, assistant accountant of the Union Bank of Australia at Welington, has been promoted to the position of manager of the branch of the bank at Rangiora. He is treasurer of the Xew Zealand Bank Officers' Guild, a position he will resign on his removal from Wellington. Mr. Cecil Marks, general manager of United Artists (Australasia), Ltd., who arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney this week, travelled to Auckland by train yesterday. Accompanied by the general manager for New Zealand, Mr. B. Allan, he will return to Wellington by the Limited express tonight. General Sir Reginald Pinney, formerly a distinguished officer of the Royal Fusiliers, who commanded the 35th and 33rd Divisions in France and Belgium respectively during the Great War, is now on his way to New Zealand in the Orient liner Orama, which left London on October 23, and will reach Sydney on December 2. Mr. Alfred W. Brayshay, of the etaflf of the city engineer at Wellington, has resigned his position in order to take up an appointment in Turkey. Mr. Brayshay was formerly employed by a firm of pipe makers in England, and his services have been secured by that firm to supervise a "scheme that is being carried out in Turkey. Dr. J. Campbell McKenzie, medical superintendent of the Timaru Hospital, will leave on Monday on a visit to the United States. There he will join his brother, Dr. Donald McKenzie, of Auckland, on a tour of modern American hospitals. During the three months' absence of Dr. J. C. McKenzie, Dr. D. Moir will act as medical superintendent at Timaru.
