WEATHER FORECAST.
FOR CITY AND PROVINCE. The Government Meteorologist issued to the "Auckland Btar" this afternoon the following special weather forecast for the Auckland provinoe to as far south as Hamilton, Kawhia and Tauranga:— Moderate to strong northerly winds, soon backing to south-westerly. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with intermittent rain. Temperatures becoming cooler. Seas moderate, but increasing, on the west coast. The southern part of the depression mentioned yesterday crossed the South Island last night, but a low pressure centre developed in the northern portion and this was centred this morning off Farewell Spit. An anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia. FOR THE DOMINION. For 24 hours from 9 a.m. this day:— The indications are for northerly winds, moderate to strong soon, and backing by west to south. The weather appeare likely to be cloudy and unsettled and probably becoming colder, with intermittent rain. Barometer unsteady. Seas moderate. HAURAKI OULF CONDITIONS. The following report of weather conditions in the Hauraki Gulf was received from Tiritiri Island at noon to-day:— Wind, north, fresh; sea, rough; weather, overcast and dull; visibility, fair; barometer, falling.
