THROWN FROM CHARIOT.

(Tram Our Own Coinqtßdutt) PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday. A chariot driver, Mr. E. A. Lumsden, had a narrow escape from serkms injury while competing in one of the heats of the chariot race at the Royal Show. In the third lap his left rein snapped, throwing him on to the middle of the track in front of the main grandstand. His opponent was only a few yards behind, but by skilful driving and a little luck the horses missed his head and face by the merest fraction, and he escaped practically unscratched.
