THE TERRITORIALS
REORGANISED DEFENCE SCHEME. (To the Editor.) May I crave space in your column to voice a protest against the treatment meted out to the men at present serving in the territorial [forccs? Most of us looked expectantly for' the so-called reorganisation scheme. And what has been done? Absolutely nothing! We're just as badly off as we were when we started. There is no use denying the fact that the present volunteer system is a farce. We get no support from the general public. In fact we are ridiculed. The majority of us. get no support from our employers regarding fret-ting away for camps. There is only one way to stop this, and that is by making the training compulsory. New Zealand must have an efficient military defence force, and by giving the men a decent wage for attending parades and camps under a compulsory system, I am convinced it would be a success. The sooner something definite is done regarding the [territorial forces the better, as the present I system is a failure. | A FED-UP NON-COM.
