ROWING.
JUBILEE CLUB. THE ANNUAL DINNER. SIR ERNEST DAVIS' GENEROSITY. Members of the Jubilee Rowing Club belonging to the Blind Institute were the guests of the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, at the club's first annual dinner at the Station Hotel last evening. Sir Clutha Mackenzie presided, and among the visitors were Mr. S. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket, Mr. A. C. Norden, vice-patron, Mrj L. Phillips, and Mr. C. C. Cairns, chairman of the Auckland Rowing Association. _Mr. L. Phillips, in proposing the toast of "The Auckland Rowing Association," paid tribute to the work of the governing body in fostering and encouraging the sport and every club in the true spirit of sportsmanship, yet at the same time preserving the happy relationship with all other branches of sport. Replying to the toast of "The Jubilee Club," Mr. D. MeJMiee thanked the clubs tor their great assistance, and gave an m'eiesting resume of the activities. Sir Ernest Davis expressed bis intention of presenting a trophy to the club for competition. Sir (_ lutha Mackenzie, in thanking Sir 1 Ernest for his gift, congratulated him upon his election as president of the New . Zealand Rowing Association. It is the club's intention to hold a series of trial 1 fours during the season and allocate points I to the winner*. 1
