LANDS DEPARTMENT.

AUCKLAND STAFF CHANGES. PRESENTATION TO REGISTRAR. Changes in tlie staff of tlie Lands and Deeds Department have taken place in the Auckland office. Mr. R. F. Baird. district lands registrar at Napier, has been appointed to a similar position at Auckland, to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement earlier in the year of Mr. \V. Johnson. The position of assistant-district lands registrar, formerly occupied by Mr. C. R. Keeble. who had also carried I out the duties of deputy-lands registrar ! for some time, has been allotted to Mr. IW. Mcßride. formerly district lands ! registrar at Blenheim.

A presentation was made by the staff of the Department to Mr. Keeble on his retirement after 43 years' service. Mr. F. O'Connor, chief clerk, expressed appreciation of Mr. Keeble's personal qualities and ability while in charge of the office and as examiner of titles, and the presentation was made by Mr. H. H. Osmers. deputy-registrar of deeds. The Lai:iU and Survey Department and the Land Transfer Office were also preprrsented. and tributes were voiced from various -ections of the *taff with which Mr. Keeble had been associated.

Included in several transfers on promotion are those of Mr. R. M. Monteath as assistant-lands registrar at Cl»r unchurch. and Mr. J. E. Aubin, as chief clerk at Dunedin.
