HOUSING UNDER-SECRETARY. STATE ADVANCES PROBLEM. (By Telojjrnph.—Prpss Associdfion.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Minister of Finance this evening paid a tribute to the I'nder-Secretary for Housing. Mr. Lee. for the splendid work he had done in connection with the Government'* housing scheme, and said the scheme was progressing so rapidly that statistics concerning it were altering from day to day. The whole State Advances procedure, Mr. Nash said, was being re-examined to give the cottage builder the opportunity for employment, but there vvna a problem to Im> dealt with. If the Government advanced all the money required for State advance* — and he felt it should—there would be a boom and prices of sections would soar. A section valued at, £200 would increase to £300 and the Government would then he giving £10(1 to the owner of the section. He thought there was eome way out of the problem.
