Society's 74th annual fixture took ! place at the Tomoana Showgrounds and, , favoured with fine weather, the show attracted a large attendance. ; Always looked forward to ae providing one of the principal exhibitions of pedigree beef cattle in the Xorth. Island, I this year's show proved to be no exception to the rule: indeed, the out stand - i ing feature of the show was the mag- ! nificently well-filled classes of beef oattle, entries, being received from many parts of the Xorth Island, including the Poverty Bay, Wairarapa and Taihape districts. Similar coverage will be given to all the showe being held throughout the Dominion in the coming season. ° One of the best general farming articles that have appeared in the "X.Z. Farmer Weekly" for some time is that published to-day on a remarkable pi«»breeding establishment in Kaikohe. It. te,lls of a farm where 2500 baconers are* being raked thie year, and they are all enow-white in colour! This remarkable constancy of colour comee from breeding from Large Wttite boars and sows, which are « Tam worth -Berkshire first cross. The 2500 are raised from weaners to bacon weights on buttermilk onlv.
Trial Export of Lamb. Another arresting article of interest to everyone in the frozen meat trade ie the report of a trial export of lamb in specially made bags, which eeve a lose of weight equal to one free lamb for every 150 exported. Chief among the dozen regular weeklyfeatures of the "K.Z. Farmer Weekly" is. of course, the free service for answering readers' questions. Here are published a score of problems that are troubling farmers at the present time, together with the practical reply by the expert retained by the journal.
