BOTANICAL SOCIETY.

FORMATION PROPOSED.

IXfKKKST IN AUCKLAND

Keen interest shown by visitors to the Auckland War Memorial Museum recently for the native flower flmw has prompted 1 lie Museum authorities to call a meeting at the Museum to-mor-row night to di.seuss the formation of a botanical society in Auckland. It is considered that the rause of botanv in the city and the stimulation of interest in native flora and vegetation will be*t he served by the formation of a popular body such a« this. A number of people with an intirrnte knowledge of native plants have already offered their services in arousing interest through such mediums as fectures. excursions and the identification of plants. New Zealand education provides little opportunity for the study of botany, though it is a subject that vitally concerns the well-being of the comniunitv.
