WELLINGTON RETURNS
(By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The report of the tramways and electricity departments of the Wellington City Council for the year ended March •U records a large increase in tramway and business and in the sale of power, though increased outgoings resulted in a debit balance on the combined tramway and bus operations and a smaller, though still substantial, credit balance for the electricity department. The tramway and motor bus revenue returns, compared with those of the previous year, are: Tramways, £385.274 ( £350,110); buses, £10,790 (£14,659)combined, £402,064 ( £364,768). Expenditure was also much higher, £325,225 ( £281,907), in working expenses, giving a percentage of working expenses to revenue of 81 per cent, compared with 77 per cent in the preceding year. The total number of passengers carried during the 12 months was 44,107,537 (41,874.801), an increase of well over two million.
