TIMBER MILL FIRE.
SERIOUS DAMAGE AVERTED.
A spark from a boiler fire in an adjoining compartment is thought to'have been the cause of a fire which broke out in the engine room of Mr. C. H. Frank ham'* timber mill, Mahuru Street, Newmarket, la«t night al>out eight o'clock. It was extinguished before much damage was done. Fir© brigade* from the Parnell and Ttemuera stations answered the call. Volume* of smoke and steam filled the mill when the firemen entered, but one lead of hose wan sufficient to suppress the flame* before they spread to the ba<-k of the building where half a million feet of timber valued at. £5000 is stored.
