I lie cricket season will commence in earnest this week-end. J lie lirst games of tlie cricket year will be started to-morrow, and then on Monday, Labour Day, there will be whole day matches. The wickets are at present hard and fast, and no doubt on Monday night players will be <|iiite content to cry enough until the resumption of the original games 011 Saturday week. I here are eight teams in the senior grade, half of whom will l>e playing at hdeu Park. Grafton and Eden, and 1.31.C -A. and Parnell will be matched there, while Ponsonby and King's OKI Boys will meet at Victoria Park. On their own ground \orth Shore, last season's < hampioiis. minus its former captain, C. C. Dacre. but otherwise the same team, will have L Diversity a-s its opponents. University will have the prospective Auckland wicketkeeper. K. Jackman, formerly of Canterbury, behind the stumps.
