RESEARCH STATIONS.

THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY-.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Tobacco Board recently decided to make a grant for research into dieeases affecting tobacco leaf, and more specifically toward the cost of the establishment of a research station in the Motueka district. Regulations to enable the board to make a grant and also grants in future are issued with the "Gazette."

The regulations state that the board may apply moneys for the establishment of research stations and for research into the growing, curing, preparation, packing, grading and manufacture of tobacco, also for granting subsidies to foster and develop the tobacco-growing and manufacturing industries, including the export of leaf.
