NEW REGISTRAR.
UNIVERSITY POST. MR. DESBOROUGH APPOINTED. WELLINGTON APPLICANT. A new registrar was yesterday afternoon appointed to the Auckland University College, to take the place of Mr. M. R. O'Shea. He ie Mr. Lawrence O. Desborough, 8.C0m., of Wellington, who was chosen from 35 applicants from all over the Dominion. A small number, selected from the rest of the applicants,

were interviewed by the college council yesterday. Mr. Desborough takes up his duties in about a month. Mr. Desborough is 27 years of ajre, and wae educated at Wellington College and the Victoria University College (Wellington). Last year he took the degree of Bachelor of Commerce. He is also an associate of the Society of Registered Accountants and of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand. He has been with the head office of Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., in Wellington for the paet ten years, and in recent years he has been in close contact with the administration of the firm. For a time he was assistant secretary of the company, and now holds the position of a departmental sub-manager. Mr. Desborough is widely interested in sport. He represented Victoria University College at Rugby, being a prominent forward, and he is"at present secretary of the college football club.
