HERNE BAY JUNIORS.

The fourth annual meeting of the Heme Bay Junior Yacht Club was held on Saturday evening at the clubroom, Sarsfield St., Ponsonby. The commodore, Mr. Geo. Dennes, presided over an attendance of 4<i. The commodore was supported by Messrs. W. H. Hurley, T. C. Webster, N. L. Vickerman, A. G. Taylor, G. and M. Bellve, L Philnott and W. Hewson. The annual report submitted by the hon. eecretarr, Mr. Ray Hurley, stated that tn« club held races on fourteen davs over the usual course, and the Silver Fern' class raced by invitation of most of the senior

clubs at their regattas, also at the Auc-k----latid Anniversary aud Northcute regattas. The priiM; uight was well attended, Captain H. H. Sergeant making the presentations. Membership has iuir«»seU. Four new Silver Fern boats w«e being built lor club members, . ulso two on the Munukau. The bulaucesheet, presented by tho hon. treasurer, .Mr. Uavid Taylor, showed rewipts totalling including donations A; 10 it/, subscriptions and entry fees £ o 15/. The expenditure was i;io, leaving a credit of £17 for the year. -Mr. Dt'iines, moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that all local clubs had a friendly word for the Heme Bay club and its 12ft Silver Ferns. With the four new boats they would hitve boats racing in the coming season. On his recent visit to Sydney and Melbourne he saw the 12ft class of the Royal St. Kilda Yacht CJub, Melbourne, and 10ft sailing dinghies in Sydney, but in his opinion thev did not come up to their own lli-fixiters. all of which had been built to Mr. Arch Logan's design, and were measured by ilr Geo Tyler. Messrs. Hurley, Vickerman, Webster, Bellve. Scott and Wilkinson congratulated the dub on its success, and Mr. Demies on the good work he was doing by encouraging a love of the s<»a and for boar sailing In the youth of the district. Although the age limit for members was 18, by that time they had reee-ived a thorough grounding In the racing rules and the art of boat sailing. Several members, who now owned larger boats, were reflecting credit on the Heme Bay club, and all were in demand for crews in other classes. Spnldlng. It was doctdnd that the championship raws would not br milled until the four new bouts now building were ready. The first race of the season was fixed for Saturday. November 13. Mr. C Kellve donated a prize for a race t» Pine Island, nnd offered to take non racing members in his | motor boat. Mr. Wilkinson offered a trophy! for a race from Ponsonby, finishing at the Tnmaki Yacht clubhouse on the dnte of this club's rpjriittn. Mr. R. Savory, of San Francisco, who ««nt a donation each year.
