PRICE OF WHEAT.

GOVERNMENT FIXES RATE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The. price at which the Government will purchase wheat grown in New Zealand for the 1937-38 harvest was announced to-night by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. The price decided on by the Government is 5/9 a bushel f.o.b. Tuscan March basis. The Minister said the price had been fixed only after a thorough investigation into the costs of production and farming conditions in the wheatgrowing districts. The initial price fixed by the Government for the 1937 season was 5/3 a bushel, while for the 1936 season it was 4/5.
