AUCKLAND DECISION.
OUTCOME OF CONFERENCE.
"SATISFACTORY," SATS MAYOR. Finality on the question of licensing and control of taxi cabs in Auckland has been arrived at as the result of a conference held in Auckland yesterday and to-day between representatives of the Auckland City Council, Auckland Transport Board and the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. Laurenson. In making this statement to-day the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, intimated that under the arrangement agreed to the Auckland Transport Board would become the Metropolitan Licensing Authority and the City Council would be fully responsible for enforcement. "The outcome of the deliberations to my way of thinking, has been most, satisfactory," added the Mayor. "With, all siutli matters compromise must be the guiding factor and the arrangement which has been come to, based as it is on this principle, should be in every way workable." On his return to Wellington Mr. Laurenson recommend the Minister of Transport, the Hon. R. Semple, to incorporate the terms of the arrangement in the bill w H hich he will be submitting to Parliament this session.
