LIBEL ON TOURISTS.
DELEGATES SUGGESTION.
TEMPERANCE CONVENTION,
(By Telegraph.—Tress Association.)
this day
Delegates of branches of W.C.T.U. met this morning for the annual convention of the Otago district. The Dominion president, Mrs. Hielt, delivered the presidential address, while Mrs. Downing, in urging strenuous opposition to the euggestion for licenses for touriet resorts, said it was a libel on overseas tourists to suggest they required the stocking of accommodation houses with liquor.
She commended the Hon. R. Sempie's campaign against drunken drivers, but commented that, in the face of his determined drive to make the roads the thoroughfares were lined with public houses.
