Mr W. T. Anderton, M.P., will leave for Wellington by the Limited express thie evening.
Mr. H. C. Harley, of Christchurch, has been appointed president of the Automobile Association, Canterbury.
Mr. R. H. Allen, secretary of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., will leave for Wellington by the Limited express to-night.
Mr. J. R. Foster, proprietor of the Central Hotel, will leave for Wellington next week to take over the management of the Hotel St. George.
Mr. S. Blomfield. of Nelson, who has' been clerk to the Waimea County Council for over 44 years, has been granted three
months' leave of absence pridr to retirement. Captain A. 11. Fletcher, of Tauranga, has been appointed harbourmaster to the Tauranga Harbour Board. The board received 22 applications for the position.
Mr. E. L. Rutledge, of Wellington, general manager for New Zealand of the Fox Film Corporation, arrived at Auckland by the Limited express this morning. He is at the Grand Hotel.
Mr. Lewis Gielgud, Under-Secretary General of the Red Cross Societies, Paris, who is on a tour of the Dominion, has reached Christchurch. He will leave early this week for the West Coast, accompanied by Mrs. Gielgud.
Messrs. A. W. Coles, F. G. Coles and D. J. Coles, directors of G. J. Coles and Company, Ltd., of Sydney, are through passengers by the Aorangi. They are going on a business trip to Vancouver and the United States.
Inspector J. Fitzpatrick, who has been in charge of the Napier police district for the past five yeans, will retire on superannuation in February. He has been granted three months' leave of absence as from November 11.
Major-General D. S. Skelton. Director of Medical Services at Army Headquarters. Simla, India, is a through passenger for America and England by the Aoraiifri. He is due to retire as from next Monday, and he intends to settle in England.
Mr. W. A. Sutherland, secretary of the Automobile Association, Wellington, will leave for London shortly. He has been invited by the Automobile Association to spend a month studyinjr its activities. Later lie will inspect the work of similar bodies in the United States.
The Rt. Rev. T. H. Koseveare, of Papatoetoe. Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, addressed the Hamilton Rotary Clnb yesterday, and opened a new church hall at Matangi last night. To-day he attended tho monthly meeting of the Waikato Presbytery.
Mr. (.'. A. Lloyd, resident representative in New Zealand and Australia for Morri* Industries Export, Ltd., arrived at Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday from Sydney on a short business trip. After visits to Waitomo Caves, New Plymouth and Wellington, he will leave there by the Awatea on October 15 for Svdnev.
Mr. ('.. C. Codlin, who has been peneral manager of the Argus and Australasian, Ltd., Melbourne, since February last, hae been appointed London manager of the company. He leaves to take up his new duties on November 2. Mr. Codlin has been transferred to London because of the illness of the present London manager, Mr. H. J. Hodge.
Captain N. M. Bonetti left by the Aorangi to-day to take over the Union Steam Company's new motor ship Kahika, which ie at present buildino- in British yards. He was preceded eome weeks ago by Captain D. McLeish, who will sail out the Kakapo, first of the latest draft of new Union Company ships for the New Zealand coastal trade '*nd for the intercolonial eervice.
