I BOOKMAKERS' KlfK. BAD RUN OF MALA. Sydney; October 3. _Gold Rod's brilliant win in the Epsom Handicap places the bookmakers in an awkward plight as, if either Silver Standard or Mala wina the Metropolitan Handicap, they become liable for- at least £100,000. Mala received a severe buffeting yesterduy, but has drifted only align tly in the discussions on Metropolitan. Silver Standard is now well in the Metropolitan picture. Mr. Alan Cooper m reported to be incensed at the rough treatment received by Talking and Mala in their respective races yesterday. He declared: "I am fed up with the lack of control of racing in Sydney." Mr. Cooper threatens to transfer his interests to another • State. The jockey O. Sholl was suspended for two months owing to interference by Musician with Hand* Up in the First Hurdle* at the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting at Randwick yesterday.
