FELL ON KNIFE.

YOUNG GIRL KILLED. FOUND LYING IN SAND. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APIA, September 23. An extraordinary accident occurred at the Samoan village of Siufaga, on the island of Savaii.

A 12-year-old Samoan girl was sent by her brother, who had been out fishing in a canoe and had returned to the beach with his catch, to bring a knife. The girl went to the family "fale,'! a few hundred yards away. She returned in the dark without a light, and while running must have stumbled and fallen. Apparently she fell right on the knife, which pierced her heart, killing her instantly. . Her brother, tired of waiting for the girl, started for the "fale," and found her lying face downwards in the sand close "to the beach. He carried her to the beach and tried to revive her by sprinkling sea water on her face. He then carried her home, where the knife wound was discovered.
