BIGGER DEMAND?

N.Z. WOOL AND MEAT.

MARKETS IN. ENGLAND. MR. E. L RIDDIFORD RETURNS The opinion that there -would be a. bigger demand for New Zealand wool and meat in Britain for the coming season was expressed by Mr. E. L. Riddiford, of Wellington, one of the Dominion's leading pastoralists, on his return to Auckland to-day by the 'Monterey, after an absence of seven months abroad. He considered that the British people would do everything they could for New Zealand.

New Zealand's primary products, he said, ranked very high at Home, and there was the highest praise for New Zealand • butter and lamb. Generally speaking, the Dominion's produce would be looked for and there would be a good demand.

Britain to-day, he said, was really prosperous. There was less unemployment, industries were very busy, and there was a big demand for raw materials. The conditions on the Continent were not good, and it was evident that the other nations were relying on Britain.

Mr. Riddiford was in London during the Coronation celebration, and he said that there was no doubt about the wonderful patriotism of the nation and the great popularity of the King and Queen.

Referring again to wool, Mr. Riddiford considered that the price would even be a little higher than last year, while he believed that the price of meat would also keep up.

As president of the Wellington Racing Club, Mr. Riddiford received a warm welcome from the racing authorities in England, being cordially entertained. He considered that Mid-day Sun, the winner of tlie Derby, was the best horse in England.
