BIRTHS, DEATHS. MARRIAGES.

Births, marriages and deaths all increased in Auckland during the nine months ended yesterday. The most noticeable increase was in the number of marriages, 2041 licenses being issued by the Auckland registrar, compared with 1905 for the same period in 1936, an increase of 136. In September 222 licenses were issued, compared with 221 in September last year. The registrar married 56 couples in September, compared with 33 in September, 1936, and during the nine months he married 446 couples, compared with 413 last year. Deaths recorded were 121 more than last year, the figures being 1666 and 1545 respectively. During September there were 54 more deaths than in the corresponding month in 1936. The figures for births were: 1937, 2014; 1936, 1971; increase, 43. In September births declined by three, compared with September, 1936.
