SHIPPING NEWS OF THE PORT.
AWATEA ARRIVED. TROJAN STAR FOR LONDON. CHZFTTKU MARTJ FROM JAPAN. MIDDLESEX AT POWDER GROUND. The Union Company's express passenger steamer Awatea arrived from Sydney shortly before 11 a.m. to-day, and berthed at the Queen's wharf. She has a big list of passengers and general cargo, and will be in port until 5 p.m. on Friday, when she sails on her return to Sydney. The Blue Star Line steamer Trojan Star, 9025 tons (Captain E. P. Fielding), which arrived last Monday from New Plymouth for final loading, will sail early this evening for London with frozen and general cargo, and one passenger, Mrs. A. E. Tuntbtill. The vessel goes via Panama, and is due at London on November G. The Y.K.K. Line steamer Chifuku Maru, 5857 tons (Captain S. Harada), arrived from Japan this afternoon, and berthed at the King's wharf to discharge general cargo. She was due on Saturday evening, btit met with heavy weather nearing port. From Auckland she to Wellington. Lyttelton and CastleclifF. discharging 1500 tons of sulphur at the last two ports. On arrival in .In pan she will be transferred to another run. this be.ing her last visit to New Zealand. The Federal Line steamer Middlesex, 5703 tons (Captain Wilde), which left London on August 20. arrived ot the powder ground. Motuihi. at 0.40 a.m. to-day. where she is discharging explosives. She is expected to berth on Wedne-day.
