SHIPS AND WOOL.
Drastic Government Action In Japan. MOEE COMPLETE CONTROL. (Received 1 p.m.) TOKYO, August 29. The Minister of Communications, Ryutaro Xagai, informed a conference of the Shipping Federation that the Government desired adequate control of shipping to counteract tonnage shortage. The conference promised compliance with the Government's policy. The Minister of Commerce, Shiki Yoshino, expressed the Government's desire to restrict annual wool imports to 500,000 bales and to reduce the output of woollen cloth by 30 per cent. When wool importers intimated that they desired 8,000,000 bales, the Minister urged substitution of fibre for wool. Mr. Yuki, Governor of the Bank of Japan, states that Japan will be able to defray her military expenditure for a protracted period.
