SPRINGBOKS MATCH. WEST COAST IN ACTION. FIRST POINTS TO HOME SIDE. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") GREYMOUTH, this day. Without the services of Gilbert, the ex-All Black full-back, Davidson, halfback, and Scandrett, one of the best forwards of the trial series, the West C-oast-Buller team who played the Springboks at Greyuioutli to-day was considerably weakened. Intermittent showers yesterday made Rugby Park heavy for this afternoon's game, but the day was fine with a light wind blowing downfield. Thousands of people from all over the West Coast arrived for the game. The leader of the West Coost-Buller team is the All Black captain, R. R. King. For the first time on the Xew Zealand tour the big wing, J. A. Broodrijk, turned out to-day in the Springbok back lineTeams:- I South Africa. Full-back: F. G. Turner. Three-quarters: J. A. The combined team won the toss and rushed play into the Springbok twentyfive, but Van de Vyver dribbled back out of dar.ger. The ball came to Dunn, the full-back, who gained 60 yards for the home team with a brilliant line kick. Fiulayson and Stewart combined to advantage in penerating runs down field, but there was no flaw in the Springbok defence. Williams made two spectacular side-line dashes, but each time was tackled from behind by Roberts. Eight minutes after play had commenced Stewart kicked a penalty for the combined team. Combined 3 Springboks 0 The Springboks replied with a series of orthodox backs movements, which culminated in Williams bursting across at the corner as he was tackled by Dunn.
