Next week four Southdowns will be illustrated and in succeeding weeks Border Leicester's, Ryelands, Lincoln? and Corriedales. Six different breeds will be used instead of one to prevent the owners of that one breed having an undue advantage. The entry form supplied to contestants contains diagrams and hints on judging. The first prize is £50. or saloon return fare to Sydney, with £20 for expenses. The second prize is £30 and there are 11 other prizes, totalling £100 in all.

Everyone remotely interested in sheep should at least make an attempt at judging these 24 sheep. Fine Weekly Issue. The outstanding article in to-day's issue, dealing with irrigation in Canterbury. might not appear to be of interest in Auckland, but actually the information given is extremely valuable to all farmers, as a good part of the article deals with the princiole of applying water to the soil. Other articles, all well illustrated, are published on pig keeping on dairy farms, grassland problems, trees for farm shelter, dairying and butterfat records, veterinary notes, farm equipment and free answers to farming problems sent in by readers. The racehorse breeding news is again of exceptional interest, and with the fine section for women, with recipes, fashions and stories, the "New Zealand Farmer Weekly" is the "ideal paper for the man on the land."
