ALLOCATION OF £220,000.
BAST COAST HIGHWAYS. (By Telegraph.—Press'Association.) • TAURANGA, Tuesday. An allocation cf £220,000 has been made to the No. 3 District Highways Couacil this year, compared with £130,000 for the previous year. This information was given at the annual meeting of the council by the chairman, Mr. E. H. P. Rocayne, the district engineer for the Public Works Department. - ' A large fum was to be spent r on the eastcoa&t highway- between Opotiki and Te ; Araroa, said; Mr. Ronayne. At Te Araroa widening work-was in hand, and] provision was being made for the erection of nine .bridges and -two ,large culverts, the .idtfa being that the roadfthoul'd ultimately -.. be made an all-weather route. The construction of rthe hew Itaukokore Bridge -was now is hand.
