HEARING BEGUN.
STANDARD WAGES. ARBITRATION EVIDENCE. FOUR DATS ALLOWED. j Proceedings were begun in the Arbitration Court this afternoon for the fix ation of a standard wage for skilled, semiskilled and unskilled labour. The hear- j ing is expected to take four days. Already, the president of the Court, Mr. Justice O'Regan, has stated that the Court will make its decision as soon as possible to give parties in industrial disputes the chance of coming to a set-! tlement in conciliation council. ! •The representatives of the employers were: Mr. D. I. Maedonald, secretary of the Canterbury Employers' Association; Mr. M. R. O'Shea. secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation; and Mr. I. C. Howard, acting-secretary of. the Auckland Employers' Association.! Mr. James Roberts, of Wellington, president of the New Zealand Labour party, will be the principal advocate for the workers. |
