A tennis match was commenced, at Eastbourne, between Australia and England, under Davis Cup conditions. Results (Englishmen first): —

C. E. Hare beat J. H. Crawford, 6—2, 6—2, 2—6, 3—6, 6—3.

H. W. Austin beat V. B. McGrath, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3.

In the fourth round of the singles at the Frinton tournament, J. S. Olliff, one of England's most-travelled players, beat D. C. Coombe (New Zealand champion), 6—o, 7—9, 6—3.
