Marrying nine women for their savings, George Roediger was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment. Julia Retinik, a widow, gave him 1000 dollars to start a store in Ontario, then he vanished.
Police state that the first wife died mysteriously at St. Catherine's. The body of the second was found in a well at Catskill, New York. There had been an unsuccessful search for the fourth, Christina McKenzie, who vanished in Toronto. Accused married Roberta Barcroft, a wealthy widow, of Vancouver, in 1934, and terrorised her in a locked apartment till she gave him a cheque for 00.000 dollars, cunningly signed incorrectly. The meque was refused at the bank.
Eoediger then disappeared.
