INDECENT LANGUAGE.
FARMER HEAVILY FINED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, this day. A quarrel between two Otamanakau farmers over some cattle resulted in Frederick M. Schreiber being fined £10, with costs £6 15/, in the Police Court this morning. Schreiber was driving some cattle on a road when Patrick Tlitchie asked to be allowed to inspect them. Schreiber refused and urged the cattle on. Ritchie then waved a stick at the cattle, which broke. Schreiber then made an indecent reference , to Ritchie's Irish descent in front of his wife and children and an employee.
Accused pleaded not guilty, but the Bench accepted the evidence against him and made the fine substantial.
