DAIRY SEASON.

BAY OF ISLANDS. i INCREASED OUTPUT. At a meeting of directors of the Bay of Inlands Co-operative Dairy Company it was decided to make a final payment totalling £15,022 12/10 on the past reason's butterfat, to be paid on July 20. The output for the year ended May 31 was 1363 torn of butter, an increase of 15 per cent over the preceding year. Gradinge showed an improvement over the preceding year, being 54.58 per cent finest, 40.56 per cent first, and 4.86 per cent second. The average payment to suppliers for finest grade butterfat is 13.33 d per lb. The cream cartage, manufacturing and administrative charges increased from £12 10/6 in the 1035-36 eeason to £12 16 4 per ton of butter made, showing on a butterfat basis an increase of .05d per lb. Butter held in the grade store at Auckland for shipment is valued at £26,276 12,2. The directors decided to forward a protest to the member for the district, Mr. H. M. Rushworth, against the great amount of extra work entailed by the great number of returns called for by various Government Departments.

KAIPARA FACTORY.

FAVOURABLE YEAR. The output of the Kaipara Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., increased considerably, the quantity of cream supplied improved, and the pay-out to farmers was raised this season. I Production of butter increased by 118 ■tons to 2640 tons, states the report of the directors for the year ended May 31. Over 81 pet cent of the grading was 94 points and over, the premium paid on this representing £2373 13/ above the guaranteed price of 12.5625 d per lb. So far a pay-out of 12d a lb has been made for finest. Realisation on unsold stock at Government prices will allow a further payment of 1.58 d per lb over all grades, after providing £1002 for dividend ait the rate of 4 per cent per annum. Thus the net pay-out, averaged over all grades, will be 13.504 d, which, with cream cartage, rebates on purchases and dividends paid, will make a gross return to the farmer of 14.115 d per lb on an average.

HIGHER RODNEY OUTPUT

AVERAGE PAYMENT,OF 13.5 d

Production of the Rodney Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, during the past season totalled 639 tons of butter, against 620 tons in the previous season, according to the annual report for the year ended May 31/ The number of suppliers decreased from 238 to 228. Stocks of butter in the freezer were I valued at the price that will be received when shipped by the Primary Products Marketing Department, while stocks of butter in the factory were valued at 1/1 a pound: The average advance over the season lias been 11.89 d a pound of butter,fat and, with 1.612 d that is available from {the appropriation account, brings the (average payment for butterfat over all I grades to 13.502 d a pound, against 11.47 d in the previous season. This amount does not include cream cartage or dividend. The directors recommend a dividend of 4 per cent on paid-up capital. During the year 788 shares have been allotted, nnd 708 were resumed. During the season the company won the Weddell Cup for , highest average grade for all butter ! graded at the Auckland grading stores, j with a grade of 01/283, this year the average grade being 94.684.
