HARBOUR LIGHTS GUILD
AN ACTIVE MONTH. The monthly meeting of the Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild w«s held at the Flying Angel Mission yesterday. There was a good attendance of members. The president Mrs. Preston Chambers, reported that the guild had arranged for, structural alterations to be made in the club rooms, which would give greater comfort to the many who use them. The report of the social activities was presented by the lion, secretary, Mrs. E. \V. .T. Rowden. A roster of helpers at the seamen's socials was drawn up. Miss Fuller gave a resume of the work at the hospitals. Miss Grace Hamilton was appoint.-d convener of the stamp circle. Over 30,000 new stamps have recently been forwarded to headquarters. The port chaplain reported that 8520 seamen had been the guests of the mission during the last six months, and that many thousands of books and magazines had been distributed to the various ships and. lighthouses. During the last week special entertainments had been arranged for the men end boys from the Xavy and merchant service, including a popular concert organised by Miss Mavis Ward, who was assisted by Misses Doris and June Sinclair, Dolly Misson. Marjorie Thaeker. Jean MePherson. (ieorgiiia Matheson, Kathleen Hollington end Master Ken Ward. A parade service was held on Sunday, the special preacher being the Rev. Major Falcon. On the patronal festival the evening service was held ill the Mariners' Chapel of St. Peter. Hockey. Kugby and Soccer had been arranged for the cadets from the 8.1. Xardana.
EVERYBODY'S CLUB
Everybody's Club held another enjoyable evening; recently at the club room's. 2<Ki. Symonds Street. Prizes for Monte Carlo were won by Mrs. Baron and Mr. Bird. Son;:* by Mr. Lawrence and Mrs. (iiiir were well received, and tap items by Xoel Mathieson were great I v applauded. Supper was served by Mrs. Riid and Mr.. Torpy. Mr. Bennett of ceremonies and Mia. Sutherlant pianist.
