WOMAN PRODUCER.
Amateur Operatic Society's Next Production. I _ Miss Beryl Nettleton, who is producing "Sally" for the Amateur Operatic Society, has been a member of the society for a number of years. She played in "The Country Girl," "The Gefeha" and "San Toy," produced by the eociety. Miss Beryl Nettleton when in Sydney recently attended a conference of professional dancers and was entertained bv the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet. ' Locally Mis* Beryl Nettleton has produced pantomimes and children's concerts, the latest being "Dick Whitting-
ton" and "The Little Tin Soldier." A keen dramatic actress Mise Beryl Nettleton has had the honour of playing with .Seymour Hicks and Ellaline Terries. Her latest dramatic success ha* been as Enid in "Waiting for Lefty,*' the startling W.E.A. play. The musical ecore of "Sally" teems with bright and catchy 'songs, the dialogue is modern and full of wit, and the ballet superb. The leading lady is Miss Bettina Edwards and the ballet mistress Mies Loloma Kay.
A FAREWELL EVENING.
A pleasant function took place in St. Cuthbert's Church Hall, Westniere, when Captain Pearee, of the Church Army, who has been assisting in the parish, was given a farewell evening on the eve of his departure with the caravan, on which he is to conduct a mission of the northern districts. The Rev. H. Squires, expressing appreciation of the splendid work that Captain Pearee had done in the district, presented him with a rug and thermos flask, on behalf of the parishioners. Tlie St. Cuthbert's Boys' Choir, formed by Captain Pearce, also presented him with a framed enlarged photograph of the choir. Ttems were given by Mr. Clark, Valerie and Colin Haw. Marjorie Clark. Hoy White. Gordon Henderson and Mrs. Henderson.
FANCY DRESS DANCE
A bright and enjoyable evening was spent by a large number of parishioners and friends at a fancy dress dame arranged by the St. George's branch of the G.F.S. in the parish hall on Wednesday evening. The fancy coetllines were very gay, the judging being undertaken by Mrs. Alberta Carr and Miss Dingle, and prizes were awarded to the winners in each section. The music was supplied by a private orchestra. During the evening Miss Walters, on behalf of the Ladies' Guild and parishioners, presented the late vicar and Mrs. Adams with a beautiful copper woodbox and a cas? of cutlery. Dancing was continued till midnight, everyone enjoying a most delightful evening.
TENNIS DANCE.
The Buckland's Beach Tennis 'llub held a dance in the Buckland's Beach Hall recently. The prizes won by momb rs during the past reason were presented by the president. Mr. Jas.
