HAWKS CAUSE TROUBLE.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday

Hawks in tlie Rotorna district have in recent years greatly increased in number and depredations among native game birds are very apparent. At the Fnstance of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, instructions have been given to rangers of the Department in the Rotorua acclimatisation -district to declare war on hawks. Last month sixty-three were shot.
