SILVER WEDDING.
DOUBLE CELEBRATION. An event of interest to Waikato ami King Country residents took place recently when Mr. and Airs. J. Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. E. Ellis celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding, which took place at Mercer. The parents of the brides, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wright, came to New Zealand from Scotland in the ship Helenslea and settled in the Poketio district. Mr. Wright was the first bandmaster of the mounted constabulary band stationed at Waiuku. The respective parents of the •bridegrooms were well known settlers in the Hamilton and Tβ Awainiitu districts. Relatives and friends numbering 100 were present to offer congratulations. Several toasts were honoured and a handsome cake cut by the two brides, assisted by the two bridesmaids. Mesdames Seymour and McKenzie. Solos by Miss G. Wright and Mr. Stan Seymour, items by the Nene Cheerio Girls, dancing and a dainty supper made up a most enjoyable evening.
