BRITISH OFFER FOR LOUIS.
DOYLE ALTERNATIVE TO HARVEY
PARIS, June 24
According to a report from New York the boxing promoter Mr. Michael Jacobs states that he has received an offer of 42% per cent of the state receipts, with a jruarantee of £15,000. for Joe Louis to meet either Jack Doyle or Leu Harvey at Wembley, England, in August. H# l?esitated to accept because of the stipulation that Louis would be compelled to pay British income tax from the purse.
It is reported from Alabama that the director of the State mental hospital for negroes has asked Louis to contribute toward the support of his father, who is an inmate.
A cable message frora Chicago y.»?«-er-day stated that Loui* wiil d«?fe«d his "world title'' against Harrcv at London in the middle of August. A P.iris cable indicated, however, that the International Boxing Union had decided to tecoznise the winner of the Farr-Sc-:imebng fight as world champion. This latter match has also been arranged for Lor, ion in August or September.
