POWER BOARD.
ADOPTION OF ESTIMATES.
BUDGETING FOR SURPLUS.
The estimates of revenue and expenditure submitted to yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Electric - Power Board by the general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, provide for a surplus of £18,814 on the year's working. The revenue from supply is estimated at £664,325, and from miscellaneous sources £7250, making a total of £671,575. Operating expenses are estimated at £432,424, and capital charges £220,337, making a total of £652,761. The estimated number of units to be purchased during the year is 206,608,187, and the number to be sold 170,630,000.
"It will be noted that we are estimating that we will conclude the year with a surplus of £18,814, and that we will sell 85.5 per cent of the total units purchased," said Mr. Bartley. "This figure may be slightly on the high side, but as it is worked back from the units sold as a basis, the general position will not be adversely affected, and we are very confident that our estimate for units sold, 176,600,000, will be achieved. In estimating the revenue received we have allowed for the revenue per unit sold for all classes of supply to be less than for the year just closed, also for reductions to take place in our operating expenses and capital charges per unit sold, compared with the year just closed. The estimate also includes provision for revenue received in connection with the King's wharf station as a standby plant although this item is not shown separately."
The estimates were adopted.
