TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. MOUNT LYELLS IMPROVE. BREWERIES' RIGHTS ACTIVE. (By Telegrapn.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Business was fairly keen on the Christchurch Stock Exchange this morning, and though the range of shares uealt in was only moderate, some lines, particularly New Zealand Breweries (lights); had veryactive dealings. Banks remained dull, the chief interest lying in New Zealands and Nationals of New Zealand. The former finished between £2 5/6 and £2 6, . Kaiapoi Woollens lost ground, the ordinaries being quoted from 13/4 to 13/11, and the 7/ paids having unsupported sellers at 5/'. The improved profits shown by New Zealand Breweries were not widely enough known on 'Change for any alteration to be made in quotations. The old shares were quoted between £2 7/6 and £2 9, 9, and the rights were most active at prices close to late rates, the market finishing between £1 2/7 and £1 2/8. Staples had unsupported sellers at £2 12,0. Lower selling limits ruled for a number of Australian industrials. Broken Hill Proprietary contributings lost 3d, the fully paids standing from £3 19-10 to £4 0,2. Electrolytic Zinc dropped again, the ordi- | naries being on offer at £2 15/3 and the preferences selling 7d cheaper, at £2 17/. G. J. Coles were steady, while Morts Dock had an inquiry at 13 ', with sellers wide, at 13/6. Consolidated Bricks again presented a firmer front at sales and buyers at 8/7, with no further sellers. Though Broken Hill Souths sold 1/1 lower than last week, Mount Lyells improved. and 350 shares changed hands at £2 3/3 and £2 3/4, and final quotations lay between £2 3/3 and £2 3/6.
