SKATING RINK OPENS.
BOUSHWOETH'S NEW SEASON. Splendid enthusiasm was the feature of the opening of the new skating rink in Khyber Pass Road last evening. Skdteways (Auckland), Ltd., have installed a wood floor of 10,000 square feet, and the rink afforded ample accommodation for the very large number of skating enthusiasts. Some 800 pairs of skates were at the disposal of patrons, and the rink had not been open long before all were in use. Music was provided by Mr. A. Wheatley's band, and a varied entertainment of plain, waltzing, gliding, two-stepping and many other kinds of dancing was indulged in. A novelty item of tap dancing on skates was presented by Nanette and Eugene, and was much appreciated. Skating has been improving in popularity the world over of recent years, and judging by the large numbers that attended the rink last evening it is likely to be one of the favourite pastimes of Aucklanders this winter. During the evening the management apologised for the shortage of skates and stated that in future patrons could rely upon there being plenty available. The rink will be open nightly for the remainder of the winter.
